How to Connect PS5 to Laptop? – Guide for Console Gamers

Before connect PS5 to laptop you need the following items

  • Video capture card - compulsory
  • HDMI cable
  • Sony Remote Play App - compulsory
  • USB cable

#1. Connect PS5 to Laptop via video capture card

First of all know a little bit about video capture card

What is a video capture card?

A video capture card is a device used in conjunction with a computer or laptop to capture or record screen content for playback in high-quality video files. 

Capture cards can be used in old and new video game consoles as well as computers, laptops and cameras. Today, video game streaming most commonly uses video capture cards.

    For fast and best gaming performance make sure that your laptop have a 3.0 USB port.
    • Connect the video capture card to the laptop via the USB 3.0 port.
    • Connect the video capture card to your laptop/PC via an S-video cable.
    • Connect HDMI-IN to capture card and HDMI-OUT to PS5 console.
    • Now, go to the console's home screen > Settings > Network Settings > and enable file sharing (you will have access to an internet connection).
    • Now download and install a quality game capture software (search for a capture card brand online and install its official software).
    • Finally, power on the console, run the installer on the downloaded software, and launch the game capture application on your laptop or PC.

    Remote play app is an official streaming software of Sony for PlayStation consoles to transfer its audio or video to another device.

    Remote play app is totally different from PS Now. in order to work gaming console is necessary for Remote play app while PS Now is totally web server base gaming platform.

    to use a remote play your system must have Windows 10 or 11, a free Storage of 100 MB, minimum 2 GB of RAM 

    To connect PS5 to remote play follow the steps below

    • Download the Remote play app from official website
    • Install the app by following onscreen instructions

    Now setting up the PS5 console

    • On home screen, select  [Settings] > [System] > [Remote Play], and then turn ON [Enable Remote Play].
    • Starting Remote Play if the PS5 is in rest mode, select  [Settings] > [System] > [Power Saving] > [Features Available in Rest Mode]. Now ON [Stay Connected to the Internet] and [Enable Turning on PS5 from Network].

    Now starting the remote paly app

    • Power ON your PS5 console or put it into rest mode.
    • Connect the Controller of the PS5 console to windows via USB Cable.
    • Now Launch the [PS Remote Play] on your Windows PC or laptop, and then choose [Sign In to PSN].
    • Login into your PS5 account you use before.
    • In [Settings] menu, you can adjust the video quality settings for Remote Play app such as video resolution and FPS
    • Select [PS5] on the screen.

    The app searches for the PS5 console you've signed in with your account, and automatically connects to the console. Once connected, your PS5 console screen will appear on your Windows PC and you can start using Remote Play. If you find multiple PS5 consoles, select the console you want to use.
